The Geek Review.

Replacements6I indulged my inner geek a fair bit this weekend so I thought I’d share my reviews for a few of them.

Max Payne 3 was on sale on Xbox 360 live so I went ahead and decided to give it a try.

The game play was beyond awkward, even for a game from 2012.  The most annoying thing for me though was the lengthy cut scenes.  Don’t get me wrong, I adore a good cut scene, but when 75% of the game is one long cut scene after another, I’m not even sure you can call the damn thing a game to begin with.

Needless to say, I was fairly happy that I only spent $4.00 on the silly game.

Doctor Who returned this past weekend and I fell in love with the series all over again.

I’d fallen out of love during the Matt Smith era, but Peter Capaldi rekindled the flames rather impressively for me in his debut as the Doctor.  He was brilliant at it.  I enjoyed his approach to the first episode post regeneration.  He reminded me a little of David Tennant with the hints of awkwardness which I always found endearing.

So far Peter Capaldi’s Doctor appears to be capable, strong, awkward and terrifying in appropriate amounts.  It was the perfect balance, I’m so looking forward to upcoming episodes.
