We’re welcoming Casey Sheridan to the blog today!
Do you argue with your characters? If so, who wins most frequently?
I can’t say as I argue with them. It’s more that they will veer off in a direction that isn’t right for the scene or story. It doesn’t happen very often because I take a lot of time getting to know them, studying their history, likes, dislikes, quirks, etc. Sometimes I feel that their veering off in different directions is their way of letting me know there are other ideas, some good and some not so good, so I do try to explore that.
What makes a story interesting to you to write? How about to read?
I like things that have some humor, some suspense, something that is well written, and something I can relate to whether on an emotional, or physical, level.
I like a good story. Period. For me it’s not about how many sex scenes a story has, or how long they are, the story has to be good. If the story can’t stand on its own without the sex, then it’s not worth my time.
I hope that answer covers both questions.
How do you escape writer’s block?
For me, the best way to escape writer’s block is to avoid it in the first place. I make sure I eat right and exercise. I do both of those on a regular basis. Exercise is great for your creativity. If I feel I’m sliding into a slump, I take a break. I back off the social networking and take some time to read a bit more than I would usually, or spend some extra time with my mom, or extra time talking with a friend. I also do writer “things” such as write a blog post, do some research on something one of my characters is interested in. Basically, anything that has to do with writing.
One of the best things – sit outside and enjoy the nice weather if I can. Just sit out there and listen to the birds. I help take care of some outside kitties, so I’ll go and sit with them. They love it (well, the ones that are people friendly do)! That really puts things in perspective.
What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever received?
It would have to be a quote by Cyril Connolly, “Better to write for yourself and have no public, then to write for the public and have no self.”
What’s your writing fuel?
As much as I’d love to load up on the chocolate, I need to stick with something simple before I write. So, a bottle of Aqua Panna Natural Spring Water is my indulgence. It’s much better than the average bottled water, especially when it’s chilled.
The best joke you ever heard:
Oh god! I’m terrible at jokes. I never tell them correctly. The most recent one I heard had something to do with a nun on a bus and some guy that rode the same bus trying to get her to date him. I think the bus driver set up a date between the two and they had sex, but the nun said she could only have anal sex. I don’t remember why. So when the deed was done the guy realized it wasn’t the nun it was the bus driver he just anal-ized.
See! I’m terrible!

Bio:
Like most authors, Casey Sheridan began writing when she was very young. It was later in life when she read her first piece of erotica and it was on a dare that she wrote her first erotic story.
Casey enjoys writing erotica that is sensual and fun with unique storylines.
An introvert by nature and a lover of chocolate, Casey is happiest when writing. She also enjoys spending time with close friends, listening to music, watching movies, and reading. She loves animals and volunteers to care for some local feral/outdoor kitty pals.
