Melanie Smith has spent her entire life waiting for her happy ever after. For a moment there, everything is hunky-dory until her boyfriend falls in love with another man. Trying to move on, she makes every effort to find “the one.”
Watching everyone around her find love, leaving her knee-deep in spinster status, Melanie decides on a new path: become a surrogate for her ex-turned-best friend. She doesn’t bargain on a two-for-one deal: a baby for bestie… and a new man.
Join Melanie on her journey as she navigates the highs and lows, the cravings and confusion of love and trying to find meaning in those three empty words.

“Melanie.” My name came out like a seduction, teasing me. I clenched my legs together, the pad that I was sitting on crinkling in response. The man was pure sex and everything he did or said jump-started my body. “Tell me about having this baby.” He glanced down at my chart. “It says here that you are going to be a surrogate.”
“I… um….” I looked away, my eyes finding a spot on the floor to focus on. I didn’t know what to say. Did he need to know the details? My hesitation must have shown, because he cleared his throat.
“If you’d prefer, I can transfer you to a female doctor. I know sometimes these things can be difficult to talk about. Dr. Phillips might be available.”
“No!” My voice was about three octaves too high. Okay, I sounded eager. Way overeager. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to freak out. It’s just hard to talk about.” I shifted on the table, the crinkling returning. “Dr….” I squinted, trying to remember his name. He never did introduce himself.
“Please call me Ashe.”
“Ashe,” I said with a smile. “Well, short version is my ex-boyfriend, now best friend, fell in love with a man, got married, and they’re having trouble adopting. They want to have a baby so they asked me, and here I am.” I pulled on the gown. Ashe cocked his head to the side, studying me curiously. Yup, he thinks I’m certifiable.
“Okay,” he said, looking away, but not before I caught his lips curve into a smile. Lips that look like they need a big fat kiss from yours truly.
“You’re a good friend to do all this.” He smiled as he went to the door and pressed a button. A moment later the same female nurse from earlier came in and went over to the counter and put gloves on. They snapped on her wrists, causing me to jump.

Will love and friendship be enough to save Desiree from herself and all that is tormenting her?

by Gen Ryan
Beautiful Torment was such a difficult book for me to write and yet, it is probably my
favorite out of all the books in the Thin Red Lines Series (Sorry Liam, I will love you always). I
remember when I was about 25,000 words in and I scrapped the entire thing and started over.
que my tears of frustration. It was so hard to figure out how I wanted it to end and since I’m a
pantser, outlining wasn’t helping me, it just made me more frustrated.
The series itself is dark with bits of hope and love sprinkled throughout. Beautiful
Torment, while dark I wanted to focus on redemption and how not all those who make bad
choices, have mental illness, or suffer loss will be beholden to those things for the rest of their
lives.
This story took itself on a totally different route (yes, I don’t outline that extensively so
things just happen as I write) and I have gotten such amazing feedback and comments that this
book was so many people’s favorite. The “villain” is different and I love her like she was my
own kid. I cried writing her and it scared me how easily her POV flowed. So, while this book
started out being the hardest for me to write, I ended up finishing it in less than a month once all
the pieces fell into place.
I hope that Beautiful Torment rounds out the series nicely and you all love Sydney,
Desiree and Hunter as much as I do.

Found You by Dahlia Donovan

Kent Casado has lost everything that defined him: his construction business, his husband, his home, and his fortune. He went from one of the first gay men to marry in Colorado, to the first to be divorced. Crushed and alone, his only recourse is to move into a hurricane-damaged cottage in Key West, but his troubles seem to follow him to the beach paradise.

Dusk “Doctor Dusky” Keller has never allowed himself to be defined by anyone or anything. Growing up in the Keys with his hippie parents, he ran an animal hospital until a hurricane destroyed it. He never expects to fall straight into lust with an uptight stranger who he sees on his daily beach walks.

Satisfied with a prolonged one-night stand, neither expects to plummet from casual to complicated.

Losing You by Gen Ryan

After a tragic accident, aspiring pro-surfer Brad Morris leaves his hometown of California to try to forget his pain. Unable to swim or surf since his loss, he focuses on a new career as a car mechanic and restorer. After years of struggling, Brad finally agrees to get help and attempts to gain back the parts of himself he lost that day in the ocean.

Colton James gave his all to his partner, Ben, but his all wasn’t enough. Dumped after buying Ben’s dream home, he buries himself further in his career as a police officer. But when he meets Brad, all bets are off, and Colton begins to question what’s more important: a job, or the one you love?

Clouded by their pasts, will both men be able to see beyond those they lost in order to have a future together?

Still You by Amy K. McClung

For Eden, life revolves around making sure his sister and niece are taken care of while building his landscaping business. Love certainly hasn’t been a priority. From the moment he meets his new client, his outlook on what’s important changes.

For Adam, the last two years have been spent helping his best friend, Maggie, grieve for her late husband while helping take care of her kids. Between his work at the hospital, and supporting his friend, finding time for himself has not been his priority. When Eden knocks on his door one summer morning, he knows life will never be the same.

Mistakes and misunderstandings are always difficult to navigate. Can Adam convince Eden he’s still the only man for him before it’s too late?

ADVANCED REVIEW
Renee Mccleary rated it it was amazing
This is my favorite out of the Thin Red Lines Series! Even though it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I loved Hunter and Desiree! This book is suspenseful, funny, heartbreaking and beautiful!! The story kept me pulled in reading as fast as I could, I had to know what was going to happen!! I loved the twists and turns! There are parts in there that had me saying “What in the world just happened?” Hunter and Desiree had amazing chemistry and I loved the banter between them! I hope everyone gets to find thier hero like Desiree does. If you are looking for a romantic thriller with some laughs I highly recommend this book.

Never have I ever….
by Gen Ryan
Read a m/m romance! Well not me because I write them and love ALL things romance.
It can be challenging to think about venturing into another genre of romance, especially when you find one that you love. I was this person. A few years ago, I would only read paranormal (because you know vampires and shifters are awesome) and believe it or not, I would scoff at romance novels. I mean, didn’t all of them have Fabio on the cover with his ripped body and long blonde hair? Oh and there was insta-love and they all lived happily ever after. Well, I’ve always admitted when I was wrong and boy was I.
I ventured into the romance world strictly by accident, stumbling upon the Indie world and falling in love, yes you guessed it, instantly! I quickly read and realized that romance comes in all different shapes and sizes with story lines that are so sweet they will give you a cavity or so heart retching that I found myself clinging to my husband for dear life like a damn spider monkey!
With this new love for romance novels came my own story lines and the desire to embrace all things romance. Now, don’t get me wrong, my stories aren’t always sweet and not everyone gets their happily ever after but they are real.  This is why I write various genres within romance. I made this decision because I believe that regardless of your age, sexual orientation or waist size we all desire to be loved and cherished for who we are. I want to show readers that love can be found in the most unexpected places and that love can be for everyone.
So when considering whether to purchase Fix You or Losing You, which are both m/m novellas that I wrote, I ask that you do so with an open mind. Remember your love for romance and understand that love is no different for two men or two women for that matter. Love is simply a coveted feeling, a connection so strong that we feel it deep within our bones. So give them a try, and fall in love with Maxwell and Jason and Brad and Colton.

Why I Don’t Write with an Outline
by Gen Ryan

It’s interesting to read and learn about how other authors plan out their books. I find a lot use outlines. Me, eh, not so much. My book ideas come at weird times like driving in the car or in the shower, and usually result in me jotting the ideas down in a notebook I keep handy beside my bed. Honestly, that’s the extent of my outline. Sometimes I’ll write general character physical traits so I don’t have inconsistencies there. I find it too constricting to write with an outline. A lot of my plot twists and turns come as I’m writing and I like to be able to go with it without feeling like I have to use the outline.

I also have been told to use outlines and have structured writing while I was in school. I even teach it. *cringes if any of my students read this* I don’t think it’s necessary. Can it make your life easier? Absolutely. But the way I write, and the craziness that is my brain, it needs to be free and not feel confined. If it becomes too structured, my mind resists and I get wicked writer’s block. Characters have their own voices and they need to be heard whenever and however they please. So no outlines, just free writing and the wonderful stories that roam around in my head!
